Pik Botha was South Africa's minister for foreign affairs in the last years of the apartheid era. He was considered by many people around the world to be a spokesman for apartheid, yet as early as 1974 he told the United Nations that he couldn't defend discrimination on the basis of skin colour. But could he have done more to turn his words into action? Tim Sebastian spoke to him in 2002.
