SMP Dan Chernow Leadership Award
Dr. Chernow is the Executive Director of UCLA SMP. He holds an Ed.D. from UCLA in educational leadership and a Master's degree in education and a Masters' degree in history from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). His professional background includes being a secondary school history teacher, teaching at CSUN, and 32 years with Pacific Theatres Corporation, where he last served as vice president and assistant general manager. Dr. Chernow has served on the California State Board of Education, serving as its Legislative Committee chair, and on the Curriculum Frameworks and Supplemental Materials Commission, serving a term as its chair. He has also engaged as a lecturer at Pontificia Universidad Cat?lica de Chile in its graduate education program. In 2001, he was selected as a Distinguished Alumni from California State University, Northridge. In 2006, Dr. Chernow was awarded the first UCLA GSEIS Educational Leadership Program award for Outstanding Professional Achievement.
